The nomadic lifestyle has become massively popular in recent years, with many people abandoning traditional home-living for a life on the road in self-sufficient vans. As of this post, #vanlife has nearly 11 million posts on Instagram. A crucial step toward van life involves the van conversion: gutting a camper van and customizing it with all the comforts of home. Here we dive into van life with a Sprinter Van.

Sprinter Van in forest

Why Is Van Life So Popular?

Vans offer several advantages over traditional RVs. Perhaps the most important benefit is their smaller size: vans can fit into a regular parking space and can access more remote destinations. Because of their lighter weight, they are more fuel-efficient, easier to maintain, and far more affordable.

The psychological reasons for why van life is so popular are more difficult to unravel. But humans have always been drawn to both the comforts of home and the excitement of adventure, and vans are a great way to connect the two. In a converted van, you are home wherever you go.

Which Van is the Best to Convert?

Selecting the right van for your DIY conversion project can seem daunting. There are many options to choose from, each with its own pros and cons. One of the most popular vans to convert is the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van. With its sleek look, customizability, and length options, this is the go-to van for first time converters.

Mercedes offers three different configurations for its Sprinter Vans: Cargo, Crew, and Passenger. Each has different capabilities and sizing, which allows you to select an option that addresses your spacing requirements.

capacity is also the highest at 7500 lbs.

Crew vans are also a great choice, especially if you are in the market for a lighter option. They have a slightly lower cargo volume of 259.4 cubic feet and a towing capacity of 5000 lbs.

configurations come in wheelbase lengths of 144 to 170 inches; the Cargo also has a 170 inch “extended” option available.

Are Mercedes Sprinter Vans Comfortable?

option, which leaves plenty of room for added amenities and customization. The high-roof option is 6 feet 3 inches, which means the average person can stand upright comfortably.

The notion of not having to stoop in your van is, in itself, a high selling point. However, even the shorter and lower versions are perfectly comfortable to move around in. The 148” wheelbase and 5 foot 3 inch ceiling is more than adequate for 2 people, which is why many young couples have opted for this version when undertaking their first van renovation.

Do Sprinters Get Good Gas Mileage?

Sprinter Vans have a diesel engine. This means they not only get better gas mileage, they also allow you to integrate sophisticated heating systems, such as Espar or Webasto. These systems require diesel to operate. In a gasoline-fueled van, you would need to install an auxiliary diesel tank to run them, which is expensive and adds to the weight of your vehicle.

Are There Any Drawbacks to the Mercedes Sprinter Vans?

The main factors that may be considered drawbacks are the price and the diesel engine. Again, while Sprinters are more expensive initially, they maintain their value for longer and re-sell at a higher price.

The diesel engine is typically going to be an advantage when it comes to mileage and durability. However, you will want to keep in mind that diesel fueling stations are not as readily available in certain areas. If you intend to travel to countries farther south, for example, you may be better off with a gasoline-fueled van.

image of the limited edition Mercedes Benz AMG GT Black series

When it comes to high-performance luxury sports cars, few brands can outpace a Mercedes-Benz AMG. In 2021, the brand debuted what it boldly claimed was “the most AMG AMG ever:” the AMG GT Black series. Utilizing tech and styling from their GT1 model, it is still about as close as you can get to being in an actual race car.

Exterior of the AMG GT Black Series

The exterior of the AMG GT Black Series leaves no room for guessing at this car’s purpose: power and speed. Every curve, crease, and contour serves a purpose beyond aesthetics, contributing to the car’s aerodynamic prowess. The most noticeable feature is the expansive carbon fiber hood, adorned with two large air vents that both enhance cooling and create a commanding presence on the road.

The front grille exudes confidence, flanked by sleek LED headlights that provide both exceptional visibility and a signature illumination. Moving along the side, prominent side skirts enhance the car’s visual stance and airflow management. The rear of the AMG GT Black Series is equally captivating, featuring a large wing that generates substantial downforce at high speeds. A quad-exhaust setup and diffuser further emphasize the car’s performance-oriented nature.

What’s Inside?

Sliding into the cockpit of the AMG GT Black Series reveals a perfect marriage of luxury and driver-focused design. Premium materials and impeccable craftsmanship envelop occupants in a refined atmosphere. High-quality leather, carbon fiber accents, and metallic trim pieces adorn the interior. The AMG performance seats are heated and power-adjustable with a memory function. It’s a surprisingly roomy interior, with 39.5 inches of headspace and 58.4 inches of shoulder room.

The center console houses a high-resolution infotainment display that provides access to a range of features including navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. The intuitive interface ensures that drivers can stay connected without sacrificing their focus on the road.

While the AMG GT Black Series is predominantly designed for exhilarating performance, it hasn’t overlooked the need for practicality. The cargo space, although not vast (10.1 cubic feet), offers enough room for a weekend getaway or a couple of soft bags.

AMG GT Black Series Engine Specs

At the core of the AMG GT Black Series is a handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 engine that roars to life with an astonishing 720 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse of an engine is paired with a lightning-fast 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that channels the raw energy to the rear wheels. The result is a 0 to 60 mph sprint that takes a mere fraction of time (3.1 seconds).

You can customize your drive with a variety of dials and buttons at your fingertips. A yellow adjustable traction dial sits visibly in the center of the dashboard, while adaptive damping, rear wing, and loud exhaust buttons can be conveniently found next to the infotainment system.

How Much Does the AMG GT Black Series Cost?

Mercedes officially ended production of the AMG GT Black vehicles approximately one year after they debuted. This means there are only around 1700 examples worldwide, only 400 of which made it to US shores in 2021.

As expected, this exclusivity comes with a steep price tag. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series commands a premium that reflects its engineering excellence and limited availability. The price point for this high-performance masterpiece originally had an MSRP of $325,000, but various optional features, availability, and customization choices can further elevate the cost.

Who Owns a Mercedes Benz AMG GT Black Series?

We only know of one person for sure that owns one of these cars: Robert Herjavec from Shark Tank. He loaned his AMG GT Black to Jay Leno for an episode of “Jay Leno’s garage,” where the host referred to it as a “wild unicorn” of a race car.

Alternatives to the AMG GT Black?

We admit to drooling slightly whenever we see a photo of an AMG GT Black; but in all honesty, it’s not the most practical car out there. Why not combine the power of an AMG with the room and drivability of a GLC? The 2024 AMG GLC S 63 E Performance model comfortably seats four and still manages to get a whopping 671 hp. A family vehicle that puts out that much horsepower? Only Mercedes Benz manages to pull things off like that. You can expect these vehicles to start showing up at US dealerships in mid-to-late 2024, with no production limit specified.

2023 GLB 250 SUV

As far as luxury SUVs go, the 2023 Mercedes GLB 250 is a stellar option. Not only is it roomy, versatile, and tricked out in the latest tech, it is highly competitive price-wise. Read our article for a full review of the new Mercedes GLB 250 and how you can buy one of these vehicles today.

Is the GLB 250 a Good SUV?

When looking for an SUV, most drivers want to tick a few boxes. They want a good family vehicle with a roomy interior and plenty of cargo space. They also want an elevated ride with all-wheel drive and off-roading capabilities.

The GLB 250 comfortably seats a family of five, and there is even an option for a fold down third row that seats two more. The second row seats fold down in a unique 40/20/40 split, which allows for added cargo length even with passengers. For example, folding down the middle section on its own can accommodate skis or tent poles between the two rear passengers. For added leg room and storage, the second row can slide fore-aft up to 5.5 inches. All in, there is a whopping 62 cubic inches of cargo space in the GLB 250.

Roomy interior and cargo space: check. How about that elevated ride and off-roading abilities? As a compact SUV, the Mercedes GLB 250 sits lower than other SUVs. It is still a good 3 inches higher than, say, the S-class sedan; but drivers looking for a more classical lift in their SUVs may find this car too low for their tastes.

Performance-wise, the zippy GLB 250 comes standard with front wheel drive for better fuel economy and nimble handling. Drivers can upgrade to the 4MATIC for an all-wheel drive experience. Both engines put out 221 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, ample specs for an agile and adaptable ride.

What are the Standard Luxury Features of the GLB SUV?

The 2023 Mercedes GLB 250 comes standard with a plethora of luxury and tech features. Highlights include:

  • Power front seats with 3-position memory
  • Dual-zone auto climate control
  • A year free of Mercedes me connect services
  • Over the air software updates
  • 4-way adjustable steering column
  • Heated power side mirrors
  • 2nd row armrest and cupholders
  • MBUX with voice control and natural language understanding
  • 7 inch multimedia display
  • Four USB-C ports and a USB-C adapter cable

Is the Mercedes GLB 250 a Safe Vehicle?

Mercedes prioritizes safety on all of its vehicles via its patented assist and safety packages. The GLB 250 comes standard with:

  • Active Brake Assist
  • Attention Assist
  • Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist
  • Crosswind Assist

In addition to other safety features, the GLB 250 is equipped with a rearview camera, front fog lamps, LED headlamps and taillamps, 7 airbags, and enhanced seat belt technology. Drivers, of course, will also have access to the Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call and Roadside Assist service wherever it is available. All vehicles are outfitted with an anti-theft system and remote panic feature.

The vehicle leaps from 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds and attains a top speed of 149 mph, making it one of the fastest luxury electric SUVs on the market.

Exterior of Mercedes Electric AMG SUV

The 2024 AMG EQE SUV bears the brand’s signature exterior styling elements: a black panel radiator grille with vertical embodies the vehicle’s strength, while the sleek, aerodynamic body is a testament to both innovation and timeless beauty.

Drivers can choose from two exterior design packages to achieve an even bolder race car feel. The AMG Night Package and Night Package Plus finish exterior accents in a high gloss black and black chrome, while 21 and 22 inch wheel designs ramp up the SUV’s zippy appeal.

Mercedes CLE coupe in black

Earlier this month, Mercedes-Benz announced the release of the all-new 2024 CLE Coupe. The two-door hardtop will take the place of the former C-Class and E-Class coupes. Let’s take a closer look at this long-anticipated vehicle in preparation for its launch early next year.

Exterior of the 2024 CLE Coupe?

As a union of the C and E class coupes, the CLE combines elements of both vehicles. It is a full four inches longer than the C class, and even beats the E class by a hair (0.6 inches). The overall exterior is more similar to the C-Class, but there are some upgrades to give it a refresh. A longer rear overhang and larger wheel arches, for example, give it an almost feline appearance: crouched and ready to strike.

Engine Specs for the New Mercedes Coupe

Drivers will have a couple choices engine-wise for their Mercedes CLE coupe. The base CLE 300 model will incorporate a four cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine with mild hybrid capabilities. Ever the zippy vehicle, the base coupe gets 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

In other exciting news: drivers can also select a six-cylinder option. The CLE 450 4Matic will feature a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline six engine that puts out 375 hp and gets 369 lb-ft of torque.

Both models use a 9-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive, aka the Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC system.

Inside the 2024 Mercedes Benz CLE Coupe

Like the exterior, the interior of the new CLE coupe is similar to the C-class. The most prominent feature is the 12.3 inch center console display, which sits alongside an 11.9 inch digital instrument cluster.

However, drivers of the 2024 CLE Coupe will be rewarded with a couple new features unique to this model. The Burmester premium sound system gets an added boost with speakers at the same level of the headrests, creating a truly immersive experience. The designers have also added a plush Nappa leather loop to the seats that unlocks them, easily allowing access to the rear seats (remember, a coupe can have four seats!) .

How Much Will the New CLE Hardtop Cost?

Pricing has not yet been announced for the 2024 CLE. However, the 2023 C300 MSRP was $50,600, and the E450 started at $70,800. As a hybrid of both vehicles, our best guess is that the 2024 CLE coupe base model will start around $60,000. We can expect exact price points for the US to be announced closer to its launch next year.

We can also expect news regarding the 2024 CLE Cabriolet-a soft-top convertible version, and AMG tricked out versions of both the Cabriolet and the Coupe. These vehicles should be arriving to US shores sometime in late 2024.

Expect improved acceleration, precise handling, and advanced suspension systems that adapt to various driving conditions, ensuring a smooth and dynamic ride.

Plug in Hybrid Options for the 2024 AMG SUV

As Mercedes-Benz embraces the green revolution, the 2024 AMG GLC showcases the brand’s commitment to electrification. The 2024 AMG GLC 63 S E Performance is the brand’s first plug-in hybrid variant of a performance SUV. It combines a gasoline engine with a rear-mounted  electric motor for increased efficiency and reduced emissions. Formula 1 technology produced a 6.1 kWh battery with a sophisticated cooling system, allowing for more efficient power draw.

Expect larger alloy wheels, performance brakes, and an optimized exhaust system that provides a captivating soundtrack during acceleration. The AMG-tuned transmission and suspension further enhance the driving dynamics, solidifying the GLC’s status as a high-performance luxury SUV.

planning a road trip for an EV with coffee and a map

Planning a road trip in an electric vehicle is easy, especially with the ever-increasing availability of fast charging stations and increased battery capacities. With a range of 350 miles, the Mercedes EQS Sedan can take you from one end of the state of Colorado to another on a single charge. Let’s plan a road trip together with stops in two of the state’s most popular mountain destinations: a day in Aspen and two days in Glenwood Springs.

Driving the EQS Sedan from Littleton to Aspen

Let’s start our trip from our garage in Littleton, Colorado. We are at a full charge, ready to leave at around 10 am to avoid morning rush hour traffic. The distance from Littleton to Aspen is around 155 miles if we take I-70, which leaves us with 200 miles to spare in an ideal battery situation. Optimally, we will want to charge at a level 2 or 3 station when the battery has reached 10 percent or less. To be on the safe side, let’s charge up when we reach Glenwood Springs, which is a further 40 miles.

For now, let’s just enjoy Aspen! We’re feeling hungry by now, so it’s time for a lunch break. There are loads of delicious places to eat in Aspen, but may we suggest Mawa’s Kitchen? You haven’t lived until you’ve tasted the Mawa Burger and Lamb Kefta. For lighter fare, try one of Mawa’s famous tartines or seasonal salad offerings.

After lunch, it’s time for a little sightseeing. The Silver Queen Gondola ride is a must, taking you up to 11,000 feet for an unparalleled view of the mountain’s beauty. After the gondola, we have time for a quick visit to the Aspen Art Museum. The building itself is more sculpture than architecture, and inside you’ll be treated to a virtual candy shop of unique, modern art pieces.

Aspen to Glenwood Springs in an Electric Car

Time to head to our final destination of the trip, which is Glenwood Springs. First, we will check into our lodgings for the evening: the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. You’ll be able to enjoy the health and beauty benefits of the city’s natural hot springs right from the resort’s pool.

Dinner in Glenwood Springs

Once you’ve checked in, it’s time to drive to Slope & Hatch for dinner. They specialize in exactly two types of food: tacos and hot dogs. We promise, they’re the best you’ve ever had. Mix and match a Cubano taco, with pulled pork and sweet pecan smoked pork collar, and a Glenwood Completo dog: bacon wrapped and flash fried, served with chipotle mayo and avocado. Bonus: they’ve got chicken nuggets and fries for the kids.

After dinner, get ready to settle in. Park your vehicle at the Hot Springs EV level 2 charging station to top up overnight, which is just a three minute walk from the resort. The address is: 401 North River Street, Glenwood Springs, CO, 81601.

The mineral pool is open until 9 pm, so you should have time for a relaxing soak before bed. Enjoy the benefits of 15 minerals thought to have myriad health benefits for your joints and muscles.

Breakfast in Glenwood Springs

In the morning, you can enjoy breakfast served by the resort and then you have two options: explore the town or enjoy more of the pool. You could do a bit of both, since your EQS sedan will be charged and ready to go.

Lunch is available from the Grill or Snack Bar poolside, or you can stop at the Rocky Mountain Pizza Co. for a slice of the freshest, gooiest pizza you’ve ever had. They also have amazing apps and a killer meatball sub.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the hot springs. But a visit to Glenwood Springs isn’t really complete if you miss out on the Adventure Park, especially if you’ve got kids. There are caves and rides and fun troll figures you can take pictures with. Trust us, it’s a blast. Dinner at the Lookout Grille at the Adventure Park should round out the evening before you head back to the hotel for a nice soak. (Plug in again across the street).

Heading Home from Glenwood Springs in our EV

What a fun trip, and we didn’t worry about charging our EQS sedan once! It was almost too easy! Shoot, we didn’t even require a fast charger. Now, we’re ready to check out of our resort and head back to Littleton on a single charge, where we can plug into our level 2 charger at home

What Range Anxiety?

Don’t let range anxiety stop you from experiencing amazing road trips in your electric vehicle. These days, you can find level 2 and 3 chargers virtually everywhere, and the Mercedes me Charge feature of your app will help you locate charging stations for every leg of your trip. If you need assistance downloading or using the Mercedes me app, feel free to give us a call at the Mercedes Benz of Littleton Dealership. We are true tech aficionados around here, and we are more than happy to give you a tutorial. Call or go online today to get started.

Final Edition Mercedes G 500 in Olive Green

As a farewell to its V8 biturbo engines in the G 500, Mercedes Benz has unveiled plans to release a final, limited edition version of the V8-powered G Wagen. Let’s take a closer look at the 2024 Final Edition G Wagen and its impressive specs.

30 Years of G 500

The Mercedes Benz G Wagen was first released thirty years ago. The very first 500 G Wagen debuted in 1993, equipped with the iconic V8 biturbo engine. Since then, the brand has been careful to maintain the overall aesthetic and functionality of the vehicle. The G Wagen is instantly recognizable by its boxy, almost military exterior: matte paint, bold lines, and submarine-like windows convey its seriousness as an off-roading vehicle.

Mercedes is releasing just 1500 units of the Final Edition G Wagen as both a celebration of its 30th birthday and as a fond farewell to the V8 biturbo engine in future iterations of the G500.

What Does the Final Edition G Wagen Look Like?

Final Edition Logos abound on the last V8-powered G500 vehicles.

The Final Edition G Wagen will maintain its typical design, with a few extra touches. Namely, the Final Edition logo will be strategically placed inside and out. The last V8 G Wagen will be available in three colors: Obsidian Black, Opalith White Magno, and Olive Magno. There will be 500 units available in each finish.

The Final Edition G 500 is also outfitted with 20-inch AMG light alloy wheels with a 5 twin spoke design. The wheels are available in black or in a green to match the bodywork of that particular finish.

Inside, the final V8 G 500 is resplendent in nappa leather. The off-roader comes standard with the MANUFAKTUR FULL LEATHER package, which drapes even the cargo area and seat adjustment panel in leather. The seats are two toned and feature sleek diamond stitching. The words “Stronger than time” are projected onto the floor, while the door sill trims and handles bear the Final Edition logo.

2024 Eight Cylinder G Wagen Engine Specs

Engine specs in the Final Edition G Wagen remain comparable to past models. The 4.0 liter V8 engine gets 416 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque.

G Wagen models going forward will incorporate a V6 in place of the V8, with the goal of a fully electric G Wagen in the near future.

How Much Will the Last V8 G 500 Cost?

Mercedes Final Edition G 500 is currently available overseas for 196,350 Euros. This is around $215,000. However, price points for the G Wagen in the US have not been officially announced yet.

The brand intends to manufacture the Final Edition G Wagen between September 2023 and March 2024.

Will the AMG G63 Still Have a V8 Engine?

It appears that Mercedes plans to continue the use of V8 engines in the AMG G 63, which has just been unveiled in a new black and gold Grand Edition.

If you’re interested in test driving a vehicle that truly fuses the concepts of power and luxury, visit the Mercedes Benz of Littleton Dealership. We have a full lineup of 2023 AMG G 63 vehicles at competitive pricing. Colorado’s mountain roads are no match for 577 hp and 3.5 tons of muscle. Call or go online today to get started.

Mercedes-Benz equipped with ChatGPT beta program

Mercedes-Benz, renowned for its cutting-edge automotive technology, has embarked on an exciting collaboration with ChatGPT, an advanced language model developed by OpenAI. The auto company announced this month that the collaboration will act as a beta test for a duration of three months.

This unique partnership aims to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing the customer experience, revolutionizing vehicle interactions, and paving the way for a new era of personalized mobility. By harnessing the power of AI and natural language processing, Mercedes-Benz and ChatGPT are working together to shape the future of automotive innovation.

Why Is Mercedes Partnering With ChatGPT?

The collaboration between Mercedes Benz and ChatGPT is a natural one. Mercedes already has cutting edge AI technology in the form of its patented MBUX software, but the brand believes there is always room for improvement. The integration of ChatGPT will enhance Mercedes already sophisticated drive technology by complementing the following core values:

Customer-Centric Approach

Mercedes-Benz has always prioritized customer satisfaction, and this collaboration reinforces their commitment to providing exceptional experiences. ChatGPT acts as an intelligent virtual assistant, capable of engaging in meaningful conversations and understanding human queries.

Mercedes Voice Assist is already capable of answering simple questions and following natural commands. But by integrating ChatGPT into Mercedes-Benz vehicles, customers can interact with their cars in a more natural and intuitive manner, further enhancing the driving experience. The ultimate goal is for Mercedes users to be able to have complex questions answered in a manner not dissimilar from human-to-human interaction.

Enhanced Safety

The ability to seamlessly accomplish certain tasks within the vehicle via voice commands allows drivers to remain fully focused on the road. No need to fiddle with touch commands, climate control, seat adjustment, and GPS inputs-you can accomplish all this and more with the Mercedes-ChatGPT beta collaboration.

Personalized Recommendations and Assistance

The collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and ChatGPT goes beyond basic commands and extends into intelligent assistance. ChatGPT’s powerful AI capabilities enable it to understand user preferences, learn from past interactions, and provide personalized recommendations. Whether it’s suggesting nearby restaurants, finding the most efficient routes, or adapting the vehicle settings to match individual preferences, ChatGPT enhances the overall driving experience by catering to the unique needs of each user. Again, the goal is to transition from the feeling of a human-machine interaction to a human-human interaction.

Continuous Learning and Improvement

One of the key strengths of ChatGPT lies in its ability to continuously learn and improve. As more users interact with Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with ChatGPT, the AI model gains valuable insights and refines its responses and recommendations over time. This iterative learning process ensures that customers receive increasingly accurate and relevant information, fostering a more intelligent and intuitive vehicle interaction.

Transparent Data Usage and Security

The goal of the three month Mercedes-ChatGPT beta testing is to gain valuable insights into Mercedes-Benz customer preferences. All user data will be collected and stored in the Mercedes-Benz cloud, where it will be analyzed anonymously.

Mercedes Chief Technology Officer, Markus Shäfer, has pledged that customers will be informed at all times regarding what information is collected and for what reason. He has promised that user data collected during the beta testing will be scrupulously monitored for manipulation and misuse.

What Mercedes Vehicles Will Have ChatGPT?

The beta program will be available in over 900,000 vehicles in the US equipped with the MBUX infotainment system. Drivers can simply say, “Hey, Mercedes, I want to join the beta program.” This will initiate an over-the-air software update. You can also participate via the Mercedes me app.
