Final Edition Mercedes G 500 in Olive Green

As a farewell to its V8 biturbo engines in the G 500, Mercedes Benz has unveiled plans to release a final, limited edition version of the V8-powered G Wagen. Let’s take a closer look at the 2024 Final Edition G Wagen and its impressive specs.

30 Years of G 500

The Mercedes Benz G Wagen was first released thirty years ago. The very first 500 G Wagen debuted in 1993, equipped with the iconic V8 biturbo engine. Since then, the brand has been careful to maintain the overall aesthetic and functionality of the vehicle. The G Wagen is instantly recognizable by its boxy, almost military exterior: matte paint, bold lines, and submarine-like windows convey its seriousness as an off-roading vehicle.

Mercedes is releasing just 1500 units of the Final Edition G Wagen as both a celebration of its 30th birthday and as a fond farewell to the V8 biturbo engine in future iterations of the G500.

What Does the Final Edition G Wagen Look Like?

Final Edition Logos abound on the last V8-powered G500 vehicles.

The Final Edition G Wagen will maintain its typical design, with a few extra touches. Namely, the Final Edition logo will be strategically placed inside and out. The last V8 G Wagen will be available in three colors: Obsidian Black, Opalith White Magno, and Olive Magno. There will be 500 units available in each finish.

The Final Edition G 500 is also outfitted with 20-inch AMG light alloy wheels with a 5 twin spoke design. The wheels are available in black or in a green to match the bodywork of that particular finish.

Inside, the final V8 G 500 is resplendent in nappa leather. The off-roader comes standard with the MANUFAKTUR FULL LEATHER package, which drapes even the cargo area and seat adjustment panel in leather. The seats are two toned and feature sleek diamond stitching. The words “Stronger than time” are projected onto the floor, while the door sill trims and handles bear the Final Edition logo.

2024 Eight Cylinder G Wagen Engine Specs

Engine specs in the Final Edition G Wagen remain comparable to past models. The 4.0 liter V8 engine gets 416 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque.

G Wagen models going forward will incorporate a V6 in place of the V8, with the goal of a fully electric G Wagen in the near future.

How Much Will the Last V8 G 500 Cost?

Mercedes Final Edition G 500 is currently available overseas for 196,350 Euros. This is around $215,000. However, price points for the G Wagen in the US have not been officially announced yet.

The brand intends to manufacture the Final Edition G Wagen between September 2023 and March 2024.

Will the AMG G63 Still Have a V8 Engine?

It appears that Mercedes plans to continue the use of V8 engines in the AMG G 63, which has just been unveiled in a new black and gold Grand Edition.
