The Mercedes me Charge system is designed to make charging your EQ vehicle as convenient as possible. You will be able to locate nearby charging stations, view past charging sessions, and pay invoices all from your mobile device or the Mercedes MBUX system. How to Activate Mercedes me Charge
To begin using Mercedes me Charge, you will first need to register your vehicle with the Mercedes me Connect app. Download the app from the Android or iOS store and enter your vehicle information when prompted. You will pair your vehicle to the app by either scanning a QR code or entering your VIN. You can also register your EQ using the Mercedes me online portal.
Once your vehicle has been successfully paired to the Mercedes me Connect app, you will need to activate Mercedes me Charge. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select the drop down menu at the top left of your mobile device.
- You will see your name and profile picture. Underneath will be a photo of your vehicle and its model. Select this option.
- You will be taken to your “garage” screen. Under the photo of your vehicle, select the “manage services” option.
- You should now see a list of toggled options for activation. Switch the toggle to “on” for the “activate Mercedes me charge.”
How to find Charging Stations Using Mercedes me Connect
Now that you are connected to Mercedes me charge, you will be able to locate available charging stations in your vicinity. Select the “Navigation” option at the bottom right of the screen. Now, select “Charging Stations.” Charging stations are displayed as icons that vary slightly according to individual charging power:
One blue arrow means the station offers up to 49 kW of charging power. This is the slowest option and will take 8 hours or more.
Two blue arrows means the station can put out 50 and 149 kW of power. These level 2 chargers are capable of charging your EQ’s battery in under 2 hours.
Three blue arrows signal the fastest charging time, with 150 kW or more of available charging power.
When you find the station you want, simply press the icon and you will be prompted to send the information to your MBUX system, which will give you step by step directions to get there.
Start a Charging Session with Mercedes me Connect
When you reach your charging station, plug the cable into your EQ’s socket until it clicks. Now, open your Mercedes me app and select the navigation icon. Select “charging stations” and choose the one you are at. Make sure the charging station ID’s match up, then select “charge” to begin authentication and start charging.
Charging will automatically stop once your battery has reached 80 percent. Simply disconnect the cable and you’re ready to go.
