Overview of the 2026 Mercedes CLA Redesign
The 2026 Mercedes CLA is on its way, and it’s bringing a major redesign with it. This new CLA is an all-electric compact sedan with an 800-volt architecture, among other things. It’s also the first entry in a line of vehicles that focuses on offering more of everything, including space, efficiency, comfort, and intelligence. Overall, it’s an elevated and innovative take on an existing sedan.
Let’s explore the details of this redesign to see what it offers and how it can benefit you.
What the 2026 CLA Redesign Offers
Power
As mentioned above, the redesigned 2026 Mercedes CLA has an 800-volt architecture. It also features both a J1772 plug and NACS charging port for DC Fast Charging, which is a first for the Mercedes-Benz electric lineup. It should be noted, however, that many charging stations out there are equipped with 400-volt chargers, and that’s not compatible with the CLA’s 800-volt architecture. Luckily, there will be CLA models with a factory-equipped converter available in Spring 2026. That converter will make it possible to charge your 2026 CLA with a 400-volt charging station.
Performance
The CLA’s performance metrics vary a bit between its two major models that will be available. These two models are the CLA 350 4MATIC® and the CLA 250+, and here’s how their performance metrics stack up:
- Horsepower: 268 horsepower (CLA 250+) and 349 horsepower (CLA 350 4MATIC®)
- Torque: 247 lb.-ft. (CLA 250+) and 380 lb.-ft. (CLA 350 4MATIC®)
- Driving Range: 694-792 km/431-492 miles (CLA 250+) and 672-771 km/417.5-479 miles (CLA 350 4MATIC®)
- 0-60 MPH Time:6 seconds (CLA 250+) and 4.8 seconds (CLA 350 4MATIC®)
Note:10 minutes of charging on a compatible 800-volt charger can add an additional 201 miles (for the CLA 250+) and 195 miles (for the CLA 350 4MATIC®) to these models’ driving range.
Design & Technology Features
While we’re still learning about the CLA’s overall design, here are some design and technology features we know it will have:
- Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS)
- Fourth-generation Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) with voice control multimedia system based on artificial intelligence
- Standard fixed panoramic roof

What Else Do We Know About the 2026 Mercedes CLA?
While we don’t have all the details on the 2026 CLA redesign yet, we do know a few interesting details. For example, the CLA will have a typical trunk in the back, but it’s also the first Mercedes-Benz model in 90 years to have a front trunk (or “frunk”) for additional cargo space. The CLA is able to have two cargo spaces like this because its all-electric drivetrain doesn’t require space for a large engine. We also know that additional drivetrain options, including a high-tech hybrid CLA model, will be coming in the near future.
That’s all we know for now, but we will keep you posted on any updates about the 2026 CLA. Stay Updated on the Mercedes-Benz CLA Redesign
