What’s New for the E-Class Convertible?

Mercedes Benz of Littleton has the 2022 AMG E 53 in stock.

Most of us are dreaming of Spring, hoping it’s just around the corner while we huddle up in our homes waiting for the chance to go outside again. And who wouldn’t love to add a soft top to that dream? You can picture it: wind-in-your-hair driving while blasting your favorite tunes, the air full of freshness and promise (there are no bugs in daydreams).

Let me introduce you to the convertible of your dreams: the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet.

What Are The Features of the 2022 Cabriolet?

New E-Class Cabriolet Exterior

The new E-Class Cabriolet design aims for what Mercedes-Benz calls “sensual purity.” All-LED exterior lighting with wide wrap-around tail lamps emphasizes the car’s athletic profile. Standard package 18” wheels with twin 5-spokes and gray painted inlay keep it sporty and classy. The car’s sleek aerodynamic profile enhances stability and performance, resulting in a smooth, quiet ride, regardless of whether the top is down or up.

The exterior comes in 12 different colors, and the power soft top comes in four color options.

The E-Class Cabriolet interior is brimming with technology and luxury details. The wider stance and a longer wheelbase (a full four inches longer than the previous model) means that you can expect a truly comfortable four-seater, with plenty of legroom for the front and back. The tailored power soft top is designed to give optimum headroom. Standard features include:

  • 64-color choice ambient LED lighting
  • Heated power-sport front seats with memory
  • Leather upholstery
  • Dual digital displays
  • MBUX infotainment system
  • Touch-free access and keyless start
  • Voice control with natural language understanding

The E-Class is A Convertible For All Seasons

The 2022 E-Class Cabriolet is truly meant for all seasons, and all temperatures. The power soft top is made from all-weather material, goes up and down in 20 seconds, and stows neatly away in the partitioned trunk when not in use. 3 layers of “acoustic” material keep the cabin extremely quiet. The top is built with large windows, including a heated rear-window, so the sight-seeing doesn’t end when the top goes up.

To make driving comfortable no matter the time of day or temperature, the Cabriolet comes equipped with Mercedes’ patented AIRSCARF and AIRCAP technology.

AIRSCARF is a 3-stage temperature control heating system that automatically adjusts to the driver’s speed. Placed at neck-level, the feature is meant to mimic a scarf, keeping the driver and passengers comfortable at lower temperatures and enabling them to keep the top down longer.

AIRCAP is an automatic draft-stop system that is exclusive to the Cabriolet. With the touch of a button, AIRCAP deploys an airfoil from the windshield header and a mesh screen between the rear head restraints. The rear seats remain in use, and driving is comfortable and quiet, even on the highway.

Comparing the E450 to the AMG E 53 Cabriolet

The AMG E53 model of the Cabriolet takes all of the exciting features standard to the E450 and doubles down on the luxury. AMG styling includes red seat belts, napa leather seats, brushed stainless-steel pedals, and 19 inch twin five-spoke wheels with gray accents.

The AMG-enhanced in-line 6-turbo engine gives a whopping 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. The engine is equipped with mild hybrid technology, but all that engine power does result in slightly less fuel efficiency (20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway).
