Best Date Night Spots in Washington Park
Fontana Sushi
Fontana has been a Wash Park staple since it opened in 1999. Serving up fresh and unique spins on Japanese classics, you’ll be just as satisfied with the classic maki rolls and tempura appetizers as you are with the Chef’s amazing and unusual creations. If you try one thing, taste the Pepper Tuna Tataki: fresh tuna seared with black pepper and served with garlic butter and ponzu.
For dessert, try the mochi ice cream cake with green tea, strawberry, and mango flavors.

Max’s Seafood & Raw Bar
If you’re in the mood for seafood, Max’s is a must. The self-proclaimed “beach at 5000 feet” certainly has a boardwalk vibe, with a laid back atmosphere and plenty of surfing decor. The central bar is built to look like a tiki hut with a grass roof, fairy lights, and wooden stools.
On the menu, you’ll find all your favorite seafood classics, from seared scallops to fish tacos. For a truly special date night meal, we recommend the grilled swordfish served with crispy polenta cakes, asparagus, mixed olives, oven dried tomatoes, roasted sweet peppers, and drizzled with a warm, lemon-mustard vinaigrette.

Wash Park Grille
With its warm and dimly lit interior, intimate seating, and cozy Italian favorites on the menu, Wash Park Grille is ideal for date night. For added atmosphere, the restaurant also hosts live music Thursday through Saturday evenings.
For dinner, make sure you indulge in one of the delicious appetizers, like an octopus ceviche served with avocado, cucumber, radish, jalapeño, onion, grape tomato, cilantro, citrus, and crispy tortilla chips for dipping.
As an Italian restaurant, Wash Park Grille offers some amazing homemade pasta dishes. You won’t want to miss the Porcini Rigatoni, made with Colorado lamb and pancetta and sauced with a rosemary pesto gravy. If you are feeling more carnivorous, the Colorado bison short ribs are absolutely decadent.

Perdida
Perdida is a relatively new addition to S Gaylord in Wash Park. The lively venue specializes in cuisine inspired by Baja, a coastal region in Mexico. Like Max’s, the interior has a relaxed, beachy feel; aqua-colored banquettes, wicker chandeliers, succulent plants, and mermaid-like wall tiles give the illusion you are somewhere by the sea, not landlocked Downtown.
The Baja style menu is small, but delicious. The Starters menu has some great small-plate options, ideal for sharing. You can choose from a variety of Mexican favorites, like grilled corn-on-the-cob with cotija, yucca fries, or a delicious mushroom quesadilla.
For other lighter fare, Perdidas has an excellent taco menu. You get 2 tacos per order served with rice and beans. Go glassic with chicken tinga or carnitas, or keep up the seaside theme with battered jumbo shrimp garnished with mango coleslaw, avocado, and a honey arbol sauce.
House specialities on the “From the Fire” menu are a little pricier, but well worth it. Try the striped bass: the generous portion of fish is cooked to perfection in an herbed, adobo marinade and served with crunchy, refreshing papaya coleslaw.
