Do You Need Extended Warranty Coverage for Your Mercedes?

Mercedes-Benz is a luxury car manufactured using the highest standards in engineering. It is an exceptionally reliable brand, with special attention given to every working part.

That being said, unforeseen issues do occur, especially when routine maintenance is not performed or as the car ages. Because Mercedes Benz uses only the best quality OEM parts for their cars, replacements can be costly.

Luckily, you have the option of purchasing an extended warranty to cover unexpected repairs and replacements after your manufacturer’s warranty runs out.

How Does Extended Warranty Work?

You have a few options when it comes to your extended warranty. If you are buying a new Mercedes, you can purchase an Extended Limited Warranty and add the cost of it into your total financed amount. This means no out of pocket expense or future payments.

If you are not ready to purchase an extended warranty at the time you buy your new car, you can always opt-in later. For example, many individuals wait until the manufacturer’s warranty has run out to buy extended coverage.

Your car does not have to be new to qualify for an extended warranty. If your car is six years old or newer (and has less than 75,000 miles), you can purchase the Mercedes Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Extended Limited Warranty. If it is older than six years, you can get a quote from a private seller.

Typically, you will have a small deductible that must be met before coverage is enacted. Once the deductible is paid, all other costs should be covered.

How Long Does the Mercedes-Benz Warranty Last?

For new vehicles, Mercedes currently offers 1, 2, and 3 year options at 75,000 or 100,000 miles. The manufacturer’s warranty will expire after 48 months or 50,000 miles, and the extended warranty will go into effect as soon as this occurs. It is 100% refundable if cancelled before it goes into effect.

For pre-owned vehicles, the CPO Extended Limited Warranty comes in 1 or 2-year packages with no mileage limit. Again, this option is 100% refundable if it is cancelled before the 1-year Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty expires.

Again, if your vehicle is older than 6 years, you can still purchase extended warranty from a private seller.

What Does Extended Warranty Cover?

This will depend on the specific warranty you purchase. However, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty covers unforeseen issues with most of the car’s components, including:

  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Suspension
  • Brakes
  • Cooling System
  • Electrical System
  • Audio System
  • Climate Control

For a Car Like Mercedes, Extended Warranty is Worth It

Your Mercedes is a luxury vehicle that deserves the best maintenance and repairs. We always suggest using genuine OEM parts for any replacements to keep your car in top condition. An extended warranty can offer peace of mind when unforeseen issues occur. Knowing your car is protected and you will not be stuck with a huge bill makes an extended warranty well worth the price.
