Mercedes electric G Wagon in blue

The new G-class is here, and it’s electric! The long-awaited, all-electric G 580 is set to hit dealerships sometime next year, with a continued emphasis on muscle and luxury fueled by an electrified, but no less powerful, engine. Let’s explore the all-new, fully electric G Wagon and why it is anything but a compromise.

The Electric G Wagon’s Lasting Legacy

Celebrating over 40 years of class and style, the Mercedes G Wagon (technically “Wagen”) carries with it a legacy far ahead of its competitors. Originally manufactured as a lightweight off-roading vehicle and later designed to support and fortify military operations, the Mercedes Geländewagen has left its mark on a grander market comprising a variety of consumers seeking both luxury and reliability. Its boxy build has always been easily recognizable, reminiscent of a vintage utility vehicle with a luxury flair.

The green revolution of the G Wagon brings to mind the consistent evolution of the vehicle’s outstanding engine. Traditionally equipped with four-wheel-drive that can be engaged on the move, rigid axles, and a 4-speed automatic transmission, the Mercedes G Wagon has maintained its renowned and raw driver experience despite safety and emission regulations becoming more stringent in the auto industry.

A Transition into Electric Luxury

At Mercedes Benz, sustainability means “permanently creating value for all stakeholder groups: for customers, employees, and investors as well as for our business partners and society as a whole.” Throughout the production process, economic, environmental, and social responsibilities are key factors in leading the charge on sustainably built vehicles.

The electric G Wagon is a prime example of what cutting-edge technology paired with a tried and true traditional motor vehicle can produce. The result? A sustainably made workhorse with an all-powerful engine capable of sustaining the worst (or best) off-roading conditions you can imagine. Mercedes is committed to keeping the same effect that its reliable engines have created over the years, and it’s a priority to ensure that customers are not merely satisfied but delighted at the driver experience that the G Wagon offers.

Features of the New Electric G Wagon

The electrification of the classic G-Wagon may pose concerns regarding the performance of the vehicle, but the lithium battery-powered vehicle is built to exceed expectations beyond comparison to its gas-powered cousin.

Electric G Wagon Battery: Wide Range, Extra Protection

The 116 kWh lithium-ion battery integrated into the ladder frame ensures a low center of gravity and enables a battery life of up to 473 kilometers. To keep it safe from potentially damaging off-roading circumstances, the electric G Wagon’s battery remains protected in a torsion-resistant casing made from a state-of-the-art blend of materials including carbon.

Horsepower and Performance In The Electric G Wagon

Much like its gas-powered counterpart, the electric G Wagon is based on a ladder-frame concept, a selectable low range off-road gear reduction system, and independent front suspension.

Each of four electric motors are mounted close to one of the electric G Wagon’s wheels and can be controlled individually, making it the perfect off-roading companion, just as it’s always been. The electric G Wagon’s motors produce a combination of 579 horsepower, which is actually more than AMG-branded cousin, the G63. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t highlight the vehicle’s 859 lb-ft of torque–no wonder you can spin it twice in a circle and not notice a thing.

The electric G Wagon can drive through up to 33.5 inches of water, which is nearly six inches more than the gas G550 and AMG G 63. It can tackle deep gravel and mud and effortlessly climb steep angles, up to 35 degrees.

Is The Mercedes Electric G Wagon Quiet?

It doesn’t have to be! If you are grieving the loss of those engine revving sounds you’ve come to love with the G-class’s V8s, let us introduce you to the brand new G-ROAR concept: a premium experience that includes a G-Class specific driving sound including various other “event” sounds to give you a feeling of full off-roading emersion.

What Is Inside The Electric G-Wagon?

The inside of the electric G 580 is tricked out in a fair amount of tech while still honoring the minimalist approach favored by owners of these tanks. A 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment display take center stage, with the latter showing a dirt-themed layout and offering tilt levels, power distribution, and other off-roading stats.

One of the most exciting and useful features of the electric G wagon is the transparent hood. The vehicle comes standard with 360 degree cameras that allow you to see road obstacles ahead of time.

Electric G Wagon Cost

Although exact price points have not been announced, it is expected that the electric G580 will start at around $150,000. We will keep you posted as the launch date gets closer. Meanwhile, you are more than welcome to test drive a gas-powered G Wagon at our dealership in Littleton. Right now, we’ve got a handful of the mighty G63’s and limited G550 stock, so snap yours up before we sell out. Reach out today to get more information on our inventory and find the perfect vehicle for you.

Mercedes Benz Cabriolet convertible with seaside backdrop

On a beautiful sunny day, nothing beats cruising along in a sleek convertible with the top down. The brand-new Mercedes CLE Cabriolet has arrived just in time for summer, joining the recently-released CLE coupe. The 2024 Mercedes Benz Cabriolet is available in two models and features sophisticated updates to design, technology, and luxury.

A Roomier, Quieter Mercedes Benz Cabriolet

The new Mercedes Benz Cabriolet is longer by an inch. This slight increase means more leg, shoulder, and headroom, especially for rear passengers.

AIRSCARF and AIRCAP technologies have been improved to ensure a quieter, comfier ride when driving in the open air. AIRSCARF sends a warm current of air around the neck of the front passengers, creating a pleasant and temperate drive even in colder weather. AIRCAP has been further optimized to efficiently direct airflow over passengers’ heads; a rear deflector automatically protects against wind at the rear headrests.

Thanks to the insulated, multi-layered structure of the soft top, you will enjoy a much quieter ride when the top is closed.

Can You Drive A Mercedes Benz Cabriolet In The Rain?

Absolutely! The power-operated soft top can close in as little as 20 seconds and up to 37 mph, should the weather suddenly change. Unlike a hard top, there are no rain gutters or moldings to direct water away from the car. Rather, exterior features, such as the A-pillars, windshield frame, and mirror covers have been purposefully designed to direct the flow of rain and snowmelt.

The Safest Cabriolet Yet

The 2024 Mercedes Benz Cabriolet has been optimized for safety. The bodyshell is reinforced to enhance structural integrity and safety. There are a total of 11 airbags, including a brand-new head protection system with two head airbags for rear passengers.

A long list of standard safety features, including Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, and Blind Spot Assist, further contribute to making this one of the safest luxury convertibles on the market. Drivers can upgrade to the Driver Assistance Package for even more sophisticated safety options, including route-based speed adaptation and Active Lane Change Assist.

Mercedes Benz CLE Cabriolet Models

There are two models available for the 2024 CLE Cabriolet: the CLE 300 4MATIC, and the CL3 450 4MATIC. Here’s a brief overview of the differences:

2024 Mercedes Benz CLE 300 4MATIC Cabriolet2024 Mercedes Benz CLE 450 4MATIC Cabriolet
MSRP: $64,350MSRP: $73,850
HP: 255HP: 375
Torque: 295Torque: 369
Acceleration: 6.2 (0-60 mph)Acceleration: 4.2 (0-60 mph)

As you can see, the CLE 45 4MATIC Cabriolet boasts more power, greater torque, and faster acceleration. This comes at a steeper price tag, of course; but individuals looking for a more powerful ride may find the price tag worth it. Both are equipped with Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive suspension, so they can navigate varied terrain with ease.

Trim Options for Mercedes Benz Cabriolet

Two trim options are available for both models: Standard and Pinnacle.

Mercede Benz 2024 EQS 580 in black

The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 is the second of three models available for the brand’s 2024 all-electric luxury sedans. It comes standard with a near-overwhelming array of tech and luxury, a bolstered braking system, increased battery efficiency, and even more range. But is the added price tag on the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 worth it? Let’s take a closer look.

Mercedes Benz EQS 580 Changes for 2024

Exterior Dimensions and Range

The 2024 580 is slightly longer at 207.7 inches vs the 2023’s 207.4, but it is more than 100 lbs lighter. This, combined with an enhanced regenerative braking system and standard heat pump gives the new Mercedes Benz EQS 580 a range boost of 5 miles without changing the battery size (total range is now 345 miles). The heat pump draws from the drivetrain to heat the cabin rather than relying on the main propulsion battery.

Another efficiency-boosting feature of the new Mercedes Benz EQS 580 is called Intelligent Disconnect. This technology reduces powertrain drag by disengaging the front motor, when applicable.

Interior Dimensions of The EQS 580

Interior dimensions for the new Mercedes EQS 580 remain the same for 2024: 40.4 inches of head room and 41.7 inches of front leg room maintain a very roomy cabin, while passenger capacity sticks at 5. Cargo space is also the same: a plentiful 63 cubic with rear seats folded down.

Engine Specs in Mercedes EQS 580 4Matic

The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 comes standard with all wheel drive, courtesy of the brand’s 4MATIC drivetrain. HP is 536 compared to 2023’s 516, and torque gains an additional 2 lb-ft at 633. The car is powered by a permanently excited synchronous electric motor with a capacity of 108.4 kWh.

Differences Between Mercedes Benz EQS 580 and 450

The Mercedes Benz 580 is around $20,000 more than the 450 model. What, exactly, does that buy you? Admittedly, the two models share certain similarities: they are the same dimensions inside and out and have precisely the same standard luxury features (leather upholstery, heated memory seats, climate control, etc.). Safety features are also on par, with the only appreciable difference being that the 580 has the 350 degree alarm system.

The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 is superior to the 450 in two important ways: power and tech. The 580 gets 536 hp compared to the 450’s 355 plus 43 more lbs-ft of torque. This equates to a noticeable difference in handling and performance, well worth the steeper price tag.

But many of us interested in electric cars are less concerned about power and more concerned with technology. We want an experience with all the digital bells and whistles. Well believe us when we say the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 does not disappoint in this area. Although the MBUX hyperscreen is now standard in both models, the 580 is the only model that has an OLED display on the front passenger side.

The central OLED touchscreen is also nearly five inches wider than the 450; there are also wireless charging bases in the passenger armrests, six USB ports, and an abundance of comfort amenities catering to the rear passengers as well as the front row.

That being said, the 450+ is nothing to sneeze at. And with an abundance of trim options and packages available, you can customize it to suit your tech needs while still saving a good amount by choosing the base model.

How Much is the Mercedes EQS 580?

The 2024 model starts at $127,350–a $2000 increase from last year. In our opinion, the increased range, unparalleled technology, and incredible power make the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 well worth the price tag. But don’t take our word for it. Stop by the Mercedes Benz of Littleton dealership to test drive a 580 (or 450) today. You won’t be disappointed. And stay tuned for updates about the 2025 Mercedes Benz EQS, set to roll out at dealerships later this year.

2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Van

Sprinter Van Features, Options, and Applications

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter maintains the model’s spacious and highly customizable build, making it a top choice for entrepreneurs and adventurers alike. The 2023 Sprinters have a few changes, namely to the engine lineup and drivetrain. Let’s take a look at what to expect for the Mercedes sprinter van interior and exterior, performance, tech, and luxury in the 2023 model.

Trim Options for the 2023 Mercedes Sprinter Van

The 2023 Sprinter still comes in 3 unique body styles: cargo, crew, and passenger, each with varying cargo and passenger space:

2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Van

  • Maximum Cargo Volume: 533 cubic feet
  • Maximum Passenger Capacity: 2–3

Ideal for DIY van conversions for traveling homes or contracting businesses that need to transport heavy equipment.

2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Crew Van Interior

  • Maximum Cargo Volume: 371 cubic feet
  • Maximum Passenger Capacity: 5

A perfect middle ground of seating and cargo space. Great for small businesses that need room for additional workers and a space to store inventory and/or equipment. Florists, plumbers, and electricians love the Crew trim.

2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Passenger Van

  • Maximum Cargo Volume: 111.2 cubic feet
  • Maximum Passenger Capacity: 15

The passenger configuration for the Sprinter is perfect for airport shuttles, rideshares, senior transportation services, and more.

Safety features of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Safety first! The new 2023 Sprinter model first and foremost takes steps toward providing you with the safest ride possible. In addition to standard safety features including blind spot assist, dual side airbags, and a rear-view camera, you have several package options to further enhance your driving experience. Upgrade to a premium package, for example, and you’ll get adaptive cruise control and  lane-keeping assist to keep you focused and safe during longer drives. The 2023 Mercedes Sprinter also accommodates ABS-equipped brakes, crosswind assistance, and a traction and stability control system to keep you secure and in control on your drive.

Engine and Drivetrain Updates

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is available in three engine configurations: two turbo diesel options (168 or 208 hp) and an in-line 4.0 L gasoline version that gets 188 hp. This is a change from the 2022 model, which was available in a V6 engine configuration. The 2023 Sprinters have also been updated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, a change from the 7-speed option of years past.

While Sprinters are already known for being driver-centric, the 2023 model operates even more comfortably. This is thanks to a redistribution of power to 50/50 between front and rear axles (older models split it 35/65). Additionally, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter remains in first gear longer in the All Wheel Drive trim, resulting in better and smoother acceleration.

Tech in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Mercedes patented tech specs are back and better than ever in the 2023 model. The Sprinters come standard with:

  • Instrument cluster with color display (10.1 inches)
  • Heated driver’s seat
  • Blind spot pre-installation
  • Rear-view camera display in the rear-view mirror
  • Cross wind assist
  • Hill start assist
  • Cruise control
  • Active Brake Assist
  • Electrically heated and adjustable side mirrors

Take your Mercedes Sprinter van a step further with optional features to fit your needs, such as a multimedia system with touchscreen or power sliding door.

Mercedes Sprinter Van Interior

The 2023 Sprinter interior is customizable to any lifestyle, whether you are a delivery driver, a family on-the-go, or you are living out your #vanlife dreams.

First, let’s consider the interior specifications:

  • Navigation system
  • 12V driver-side power outlets
  • Trailer pre-wiring
  • Instrument panel storage bin
  • Seat angle adjustment and lumbar support
  • Hardboard sidewall paneling
  • Cargo area wooden floor options
  • Attention Assist ®
  • Rearview Camera
  • Multi-function steering wheel with trip computer

Depending on the configuration you choose, you’ll have further options for legroom, seat configuration, and extensive customization.

Advantages of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The 2023 Mercedes Ben Sprinter comes with a higher price tag than many of its competitors, such as the Ford Transit. But there is a reason why these vans remain a top choice, despite their expense. Sprinters offer several advantages that mean they are well worth the initial investment:

MB Sprinters Have Diesel Engines

Mercedes offers its Sprinter vans in two turbodiesel engine configurations. The diesel engine option alone makes these vans worth it. Diesel engines are far more durable and require much less maintenance than their gas counterparts. Diesel also has better fuel economy than gas, which means you’ll travel farther on one tank. This is an important consideration if you intend to use your van across long distances.

Of course, you also have the option of a the 4.0 L gasoline engine, should you be operating in an area where diesel is harder to find.

Sprinters Hold Their Value

Because diesel engines can last twice as long as gas engines, Sprinters hold their value much better than other vehicles in their class. This means that you can trade in your Sprinter when it’s time for an upgrade and expect to have a fair amount to put towards a newer model.

Mercedes Sprinter Vans Are Adaptable

One of the most appreciated aspects of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinters is their customizability. They lend themselves to a wide array of applications, from towing cargo to transporting passengers. The 2023 Sprinter can hold 1700 lbs more than a Transit and tow up to 7500 pounds, which means you won’t have to compromise when it comes to choosing what to bring.

Is There An Electric Sprinter Van for 2023?

Yes! Mercedes Benz rolled out the all-new 2024 eSprinter in the second half of last year. It provides a 113 kWh battery, the largest and most powerful yet. This battery can last you as long as 400 kilometers (248 miles), and can be charged both at home (using an AC charger to fully charge in 12 hours), or at a DC fast charging station in under an hour.

Cost of 2023 Mercedes Sprinter

Depending on the trim and additional options you choose, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van pricing starts at an MSRP of $45,795.

Mercedes GLS 580 in parking lot

Mercedes-Benz continues to be top dog in the realm of ultra-luxury SUVs, and the GLS 580 is a prime example of that. Combining the opulence of the S-Class with the sheer muscle of the G-class, the GLS 580 strikes a balance between performance and style. Let’s take a look at some of the features of the new GLS 580 and how it stacks up against the 450 trim option.

What Is the Difference Between a GLS 450 and 580?

The 2024 GLS is offered in two trim levels: 450 and 580. Let’s compare the specs to help you decide which one is right for you.

Size Differences Between GLS 450 and GLS 580

The exterior dimensions are nearly the same. Both the GLS 450 and 580 have a 123.4in wheelbase, an overall height of 71.8 inches, overall width of 79.9 inches, and an overall length of 205.2 inches.

The only difference is that the GLS 450 is slightly lighter and has a narrower track width in the front and back. It weighs 5489 lbs compared to the 580’s 5820; the rear track is 1.8 inches narrower at 66.6 inches, and the front track is 1.4 inches narrower.

The interior dimensions of the GLS 450 are exactly the same as the 580: room for seven passengers, 40.3 inches of legroom in the front row, 41.9 inches in the second, and a cargo capacity of between 17.4 and 84.7 cubic feet.

Is The GLS 580 a V8?

Yes, the GLS 580 utilizes a 4.0 L V8 biturbo engine with mild hybrid drive. In fact, the use of the V8 is one of the key differences between the GLS 450 and GLS 580. The 450 is equipped with a 3.0 L inline-6 turbo instead of a V8.

The result is an appreciable difference in performance. The GLS 580 puts out 510 hp, bolstered by 538 lb-ft of torque. While still impressive, the 450 maxes out at 375 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. The 580 goes from 0-60 in 4.7 seconds: a full 1.1 seconds faster than the 450. Drivers looking for more power and off-roading maneuverability will likely prefer the 580’s V8.

That being said, the more powerful engine sacrifices some fuel economy. The GLS 580’s V8 gets an average of 14 mpg in the city compared to the 450’s 19 mpg. Drivers looking for better gas mileage may, therefore, prefer the 450.

Mercedes new March vehicle offers

Drivetrain and Wheels in Mercedes GLS 450 vs GLS 580

Both the GLS 450 and the Mercedes GLS 580 utilize the 9G-TRONIC 9-SPEED automatic transmission, and both are equipped with the 4MATIC fully variable all-wheel drive configuration.

The wheels on the GLS 580 are slightly larger and more posh. It comes standard with 22” AMG multispoke wheels and high performance summer tires. The GLS 450 has all-season tires and 21” five-spoke wheels.

Luxury and Safety in the GLS 580 vs the 450

Safety-wise, the Mercedes GLS 580 and 450 are pretty much on par. When it comes to luxury features, however, the GLS 580 has a fair bit more to offer. In addition to all the standard luxury features of the GLS450, the 580 also includes:

  • Mulitcontour front seats with massage
  • Rapid heating feature for front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 5-zone climate control
  • Soft-close doors
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated second row seats

GLS 580 Multimedia

The Mercedes GLS 580 and the 450 offer the same standard multimedia options, including the MBUX, a 12.3 inch touchscreen multimedia display, a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster display, 1 year of live traffic updates, 1 year of free map updates, and the high end Burmester surround sound system.

How Much Is The GLS 580?

The GLS 580 starts at $112,000 MSRP. This is considerably more than the GLS 450, which starts at around $87,000.

Is the GLS 580 a Maybach?

No, the GLS 580 is not a Maybach. It is part of two available trim options for the GLS SUV. Mercedes has, however, released a Maybach GLS 600. The 2024 version is now available and might be described as a 580 “on acid.”

The luxury features are off the charts: massage chairs with private music and smell programs; Burmester 3D sound; an exclusive climate system; lounge positions for chairs; and, of course, a refrigerator for your champagne and flutes. Not to mention the whole thing is tricked out in Maybach signature emblems and styling.

That luxury comes with a hefty price tag, however. The 2024 model starts at around $174,350. For our money, the 580 does just fine. It’s got the V8 engine, massage seats of its own (heated front and second row), plush leather, the Burmester surround, and plenty of other features that hold their own against the Maybach.

GLS 580: What’s The Verdict?

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 is luxury off-roading at its absolute finest. It surpasses the 450 in power, handling, and luxury. However, the additional ticket price may dissuade some buyers. The 450 is a match in every other way to the GLS 580: it is the same size, inside and out and has identical safety and multimedia features. Ultimately, the choice will be dependent upon the driver’s goals. Those looking for added luxury akin to a Maybach (massage chairs and heated second row??) and the power of G-Wagen will love the GLS 580. Again, though, the 450 is nothing to sneeze at.

Mercedes EQS 450 sedan on a snowy road

It is no secret that cold weather takes a toll on most vehicles, electric or not. But electric cars have additional considerations when it comes to winter driving. Read our tips for maintaining electric cars in cold weather to help ensure you get the most out of your EV.

Do Electric Cars Work in Cold Weather?

First of all, you may be wondering: do electric vehicles even work in cold temperatures? The short answer is yes. The long answer is yes, but not as efficiently as they do in warmer temperatures. This is for a few simple reasons:

Cold Weather Slows Battery Energy Output

When you use your electric car’s lithium ion battery, a series of chemical reactions is taking place that releases energy. Cooler temperatures slow these chemical reactions down. This means that the battery is operating with slightly less efficiency than in the warmer months.

Electric Engines Use Energy to Heat the Cabin

Traditional internal combustion engines generate quite a bit of heat during operation, a lot of which can be filtered into the cabin to keep it comfortable. The more efficient electric engines, on the other hand, do not generate enough heat to sufficiently warm up the car. Rather, the car heaters draw energy directly from the battery, further reducing efficiency and range.

How Much Range is Lost By Electric Cars in Cold Weather?

  • The exact answer to this question depends on a few things, including:
  • Where you are driving (highway vs city)
  • The brand of EV
  • Whether or not you are using the heater
  • The degree of coldness (the colder the temperature, the greater the range loss)

In general, however, most cars lose between 25 and 30 percent of their range in cold temperatures. The Mercedes EQS 450+, for example, gets around 72 percent of its combined mild weather range in winter (that is still 329 miles, which is still about 20 miles longer than a Tesla Y Long Range model in the summer).

Tips for Driving Electric Cars in Cold Weather

Prepare for Range Loss

Range loss is a fact of life for electric cars in cold weather. Plan your trips ahead and assign your battery a range of 30 percent less to be on the safe side.

Pack An Emergency Kit

As with gas-powered cars, you will want to prepare for emergencies by stocking your vehicle with blankets, water, a flashlight (and extra batteries), windshield scraper, and a multi-tool. Make sure your cell phone is charged before you head out.

Pre-Condition Your Car

It is easier for your car battery to keep an already-warm car cabin heated. Whenever possible, warm up your car while it is still plugged in to the home charger. This is called “preconditioning” the vehicle, and it will help you avoid range loss in cold weather.

Keep Warm Without the Heater

Once your vehicle is preconditioned, try to keep warm using features like the heated steering wheel or a heated seat. These require considerably less energy to function.

Slow Charge Your EV Whenever Possible

While occasional top ups with fast-charging DC stations will not harm your battery, slow charging an electric car allows ample time for ion stabilization. Because of this, it is thought that slow charging is healthier for the battery overall. Try to limit your DC charging, especially in the colder months.

You will also want to try to keep your charge range between 10 percent and 85 percent. Fully charging or fully depleting the battery can also shorten its lifespan.

Perform Routine Maintenance for Electric Cars in Cold Weather

Although electric cars require less general maintenance than gas-powered vehicles, they still need attention to perform optimally:

  • Check tires for tread and proper air pressure. If recommended, install winter tires for the season.
  • Replace windshield wipers, front and back
  • Replace air cabin filter
  • Top up coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid

2024 Mercedes GLE in blue color

The 2024 Mercedes GLE and BMW X5 sDrive40i have similar features and a comparable price point. As such, you may be wondering which one to choose for your next luxury SUV. We’ve made it easy for you by listing out a fair comparison of performance, comfort, and technology specs to help you decide which one is right for you.

Key Points

Mercedes Benz GLE 350BMW X5 sDrive40i
More cargo spaceMore powerful engine
Lower priceSlightly better fuel economy
More leg room
Better safety options

Price of BMW X5 vs 2024 Mercedes GLE

The Mercedes GLE 350 4MATIC starts at $62,650, which is less than the BMW x5 starting price of $65,200.

Seating and Cargo Space in 2024 X5 sDrive40i vs GLE 350

Both the X5 and the GLE 350 have 5 seats available, with the option to add a third row with two additional seats. Cargo space is greater in the Mercedes, with up to 74.9 cubic feet of room with the rear seats folded down. When the seats are in place, there is 33.3 cubic feet available.

The X5, by comparison, maxes out at 72.3 cubic feet with the rear seats down, but edges out Mercedes slightly when the seats are up (33.9 vs 33.3 cubic feet).

Mercedes takes the lead with leg room, especially for passengers. The GLE 350 has 40.3 inches of rear leg room, nearly 3 full inches more than the BMW X5 (at 37.4 inches).

X5 vs 2024 GLE Performance

We can’t deny that the BMW X5 sDrive40i is powerful. With a standard 3.0 L 6 cylinder engine, it puts out 375 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque-significantly more on both counts than the Mercedes GLE 350 (255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque). The BMW is also faster, reaching 0 to 60 in 5 seconds versus the GLE’s 5 seconds.

Despite all that power, the Mercedes GLE 350 can handle a greater payload: 1499 lbs vs the BMW’s max of 1054 lbs. The GLE 350 can also tow 500 lbs more than the X5 (7700 lbs vs 7200 lbs).

Luxury and Tech in 2024 Mercedes GLE and BMW X5

Obviously, both of these cars classify as luxury vehicles, so there is no shortage of plush amenities in either. The BMW does have a panoramic moonroof that’s pretty snazzy, but the GLE has its own power sunroof. We’ll give BMW points for having wood trim as standard and a larger central display (14.9” vs 12.3” in the GLE).

But, overall, the two vehicles are pretty comparable when it comes to comfort: leather grip steering wheel, heated memory seats, lumbar support, cupholders, wireless charging-all the bells and whistles.

Safety Features of the 2024 Mercedes GLE 350 vs BMW X5

This is where the 2024 Mercedes GLE really knocks it out of the park. While the BMW X5 does offer many safety features, it simply cannot compare with Mercedes’ advanced technology. First, the GL3 350 includes a 360 degree camera (the BMW has rear-view only). Second, Mercedes transparent hood tech is now standard in the GLE 350. This allows drivers to detect road hazards like rocks and uneven terrain, which is invaluable in an off-roading vehicle.

Finally, the 2024 Mercedes GLE incorporates the brand’s Car-to-X technology. Cars in the same class communicate previously encountered hazards, such as road obstructions or ice, to vehicles approaching from behind. In other words, fellow Mercedes drivers are warned ahead of time about potential dangers on the road. Cars talking to each other? What is this, Pixar?

Test Drive a 2024 Mercedes GLE Today

In the end, both the 2024 Mercedes GLE and the BMW X5 sDrive40i are great vehicles. If you are looking for more power in your engine, you probably want the BMW. But for our money, you can’t beat the safety, technology, and comfort of the Mercedes–and it’s cheaper, to boot. You don’t have to take our word for it, though. Stop by the Mercedes Benz of Littleton dealership to test drive a 2024 GLE and see for yourself.

hand writing the words "tax write off"

As a business owner, maximizing tax deductions is a key strategy for reducing your taxable income and increasing your bottom line. One of the valuable tax-saving opportunities available to businesses is the Section 179 deduction. This allows you to subtract the cost of machinery and other qualifying items, including vehicles! Vehicles must meet certain requirements in order to qualify for Section 179, however. Let’s take a look at the section 179 deduction vehicle list for 2023.

Understanding Section 179

First, let’s quickly review what this deduction covers in general. Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment or property purchased or financed during the tax year. This deduction was designed to encourage small and medium-sized businesses to invest in their growth by providing an incentive for buying necessary assets.

In addition to certain vehicles, the following are eligible for a deduction under Section 179:

  • Machinery and equipment needed for the business
  • Software (not custom)
  • Livestock
  • Furniture

Section 179 does not generally cover real estate or intangible assets, like copyrights and licensing.

Qualifying Section 179 Vehicles

To qualify for the section 179 deduction, a vehicle must meet certain criteria set forth by the IRS:

  • Eligible vehicles can be a passenger car, crossover SUVs, heavy SUVs, trucks, and vans
  • The vehicle must be put to use for business within the first year of purchase
  • The vehicle can be purchased new or used
  • The vehicle must be used at least 50 percent of the time for business purposes*

*Keep in mind that, in order to claim the full deduction for your vehicle, it must be used 100 percent of the time for business. Otherwise, you will be eligible for only a partial deduction.

Section 179 Vehicle Categories

The IRS recognizes three categories of qualifying vehicles: Light, Heavy, and Other:

  • Light Vehicle Section 179 Requirements
  • Must have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of less than 6000 pounds. This includes most crossover SUVs and passenger vehicles.

For 2023, the maximum amount you can deduct for a light business vehicle is $12,200 in the first year the vehicle is used.

Model examples: Mercedes Benz EQB-Class, EQS-Class

Heavy Vehicle Section 179 Requirement
Heavy vehicles must be between 6,000 and 14,000 pounds. This would include most full-sized SUVs, cargo and passenger vans, and pickup trucks.

“Heavy” vehicles can deduct a maximum of $28,900 for 2023.

Model examples: Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans; EQS SUV

Other Section 179 Vehicles

  • These are vehicles with a GVWR of more than 14,000 pounds or a vehicle that has been customized/modified for business use. Specific parameters include:
  • Delivery vans that have an interior cargo area of at least six feet and that is not easily accessible by passengers.
  • Shuttle vehicles that have more than nine passengers behind the driver
  • Vehicles with a fully enclosed driver compartment and no seating behind the driver

This category would also include vehicles such as ambulances, hearses, and work trucks.

Generally, you can find your vehicle’s GVWR on the manufacturer’s label on the inside of the car door.

Is There a Limit to the Number of Vehicles You Can Deduct?

You can deduct as many vehicles as you want, up to a maximum of $1,080,000. In the case of a heavy vehicle, this means you could deduct up to 37 vehicles, provided each meets the other necessary criteria.

How to Claim the Deduction

To take advantage of the Section 179 deduction for qualifying vehicles, you’ll need to obtain Form 4562 and select the 179 deduction (Section 1). You will then list the properties (vehicles) for which you intend to apply the deduction. Make sure you maintain careful records of mileage, receipts, and other evidence of the vehicle’s stated business purpose.

Write Off a Mercedes Benz Sprinter for Your Business

Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans continue to be a top choice for businesses and van conversions alike. They are highly customizable, extremely comfortable to drive, and utilize a diesel engine that outlasts its gas competitors by decades. They also qualify as “heavy” vehicles by the IRS when used for business purposes at least 50 percent of the time.

If you are interested in purchasing a Sprinter or a fleet of these great vehicles for your business, visit the Mercedes Benz of Littleton dealership. We have a full line of new and pre-owned Sprinters ready for a test drive.

2024 GLC 300 4MATIC in blue with mountain backdrop

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe is set to hit US dealerships in late autumn/early winter. It features a host of tech, luxury, and style upgrades to the already wildly popular model. The model will be available in standard and Pinnacle trim options, along with a variety of packages designed to accommodate the most frequently grouped optional features.

New Features of the 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe by Mercedes

The goal of the new GLC 300 4MATIC is to unite the practicality of an SUV with the drivability of a coupe. Lower in height but with the zippy performance of an off-road vehicle, the model superbly navigates virtually any terrain. The brand has revamped several styling and tech details without compromising performance or comfort:

New Styling on the Exterior

The sporty design of the GLC 300 has been augmented with carved edges and deliberate shaping to highlight the wheel arches and overall proportions of the vehicle. Once optional, the Mercedes-Benz star pattern is now standard on all GLC 300 radiator grille covers.

More Cargo Space

The new GLC 300 4MATIC has more storage space than its predecessor: a full 1.6 cubic feet  more with the second row in place (19.2 cu ft total), and a massive increase of 3.1 cubic feet with the seats folded down (52.6 cu ft total).

Bigger Screens and Updated Systems

The interior of the 2024 GLC 4MATIC is equipped with the latest in Mercedes Benz technology, including a larger center infotainment display (11.9” up from 10.25”) and the newest navigation and MBUX systems.

2024 GLC 300 Interior Highlights

Both the driver and passenger seats in the new GLC 300 4MATIC will be heated. Panoramic sunroof is now standard and 2.4 inches longer than in the previous models. Inductive wireless charging is now available as well for added driver and passenger convenience.

Advanced Mild Hybrid Technology

The 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC comes equipped with a 48 volt battery and integrated start generator to recoup energy during braking and other tasks, increasing fuel efficiency and boosting the hp from 255 to 278 (+23 hp) and the torque from 295 lb-ft to 443 (+195!).

Trim Options for 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC

Besides the standard edition, the all new Mercedes GLC 300 4MATIC will be offered in a Pinnacle trim level. For an additional $2950, the trim includes:

  • Burmester sound system
  • Head up display
  • Heat and noise insulating glass
  • Digital light and projections

Mercedes Benz has also revamped its package logic to offer groupings of common features selected by customers. The Night Package, for example, caters to those who prefer AMG styling. Just $200 gets you the classic 19” AMG Twin 5-spoke wheels with black accents (20” is extra). You also get the high gloss black treatment for the front wing, grille lamellas, exterior mirrors, window trim, beltline, and rear diffuser insert.

How Much Does the 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC Cost?

The base MSRP for the 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC is $57,000. This is up $2300 from the 2023 model, which seems reasonable given the new tech and performance specs. The vehicle is available to order right now and will show up at most dealerships later this year (hopefully by December).

We happen to have a limited inventory of the brand new 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC available for a test drive at our dealership in Littleton. In addition, we have a full inventory of both new and certified pre-owned vehicles and are happy to assist you in selecting the model that best suits your needs.
