Mercedes-Benz EQS-Class Sedan in dark blue

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS-Class Sedan is already one of the brand’s top selling electric vehicles, with around 2000 cars sold in the first quarter. Many drivers interested in going electric might be curious as to the differences between the 2022 prototype and the updated EQS sedan. Overall, the changes are fairly minimal; but there are a few key differences, including one additional version, interior updates, and increased price points. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new for the 2023 Mercedes EQS class.

Price Points for the 2023 Mercedes EQS Class

The biggest change for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS-Class sedan is the addition of an all-wheel drive version of the 450+ model, which will cost $3000 more than its rear-wheel drive counterpart. Both the 450+ RWD and the 580 4MATIC will see a significant price increase, while the AMG trim will be only slightly more expensive. In total, there will be four models of the 2023 EQS Sedan available:

  • 2023 EQS 450+ RWD, MSRP $104,400 (up from $102,310 for 2022)
  • 2023 EQS 450 4MATIC AWD, MSRP $107,400
  • 2023 EQS 580 4MATIC AWD, MSRP $125,950 (up from $119,110 for 2022)
  • 2023 AMG EQS 4MATIC+, MSRP $147,550 (up from $147,400)

Mercedes also charges a destination fee of $1150 per vehicle. More importantly, drivers of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan models will be ineligible for the previous year’s 7500 tax credit, due to limits set forth by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. (The Act limits the cost of eligible vehicles to $55,000.) That being said, you may still qualify for local incentives and rebates

Technology in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS-Class Sedan

We’re not gonna lie, the new Mercedes Benz EQS sedan models will cost a pretty penny. Luxury car aficionados will tell you it is well worth it, however. EVs, in general, are more expensive up front, but guarantee savings in other ways over time (no gas, no oil changes, less maintenance). When you tally in Mercedes’ unparalleled comfort and technology, the higher price tag starts to make sense.

So far, despite the price hike, the 2023 EQS sedans are on par with 2022 sales. This is because there is simply no comparison when it comes to driving a Mercedes Benz, especially the EQ vehicles. The brand is years ahead of the competition when it comes to technology, from adaptive safety features, to the AI MBUX system, to the “zero layer” multi-screen smoothly spanning 56 inches across the dashboard. Ambient lighting that matches the tempo of the music you are playing and aromatherapy options to suit your mood goals lend to the undeniably futuristic character of the car.
