C63 vs M4

Mercedes or BMW? At this point, its an age-old question as both brands vie for the top spot and try to dethrone the other. Once again, we find ourselves in the midst of a battle between the Mercedes C 63 vs. the BMW M4. Is BMW better than Mercedes? Does Mercedes outclass BMW? Is one better, or is it a tie at the finish line? Well look at several categories and see where the stats stack up to help you determine whether your next luxury sedan should be a Mercedes or a BMW.

Mercedes C 63 Vs. BMW M4: Power and Performance

To kick things off, the BMW M4’s hp (horsepower) is dependent upon and driven by three different tunings of the same twin-turbocharged 3.0L, 6-cylinder engine:

  • The base engine in the M4 Coupe makes 473 horsepower
  • The next engine in the M4 Competition hits 503 horsepower
  • The BMW M4 maxes out at 523 horsepower with rear-biased all-wheel drive.

It’s safe to say that the BMW M4 hp is intimidating. Let’s see how the Mercedes competes.

The Mercedes-AMG® C 63 comes with a different engine setup altogether: a turbocharged 2.0L, 4-cylinder model. However, that engine is paired with a turbocharged electric motor to deliver an astonishing 671 horsepower. How do these engines stack up in terms of 0-60 times?

  • BMW M4 0-60: 3.4 seconds (M4 Competition xDrive Coupe)
  • Mercedes-AMG® C 63 0-60: 3.3 seconds

So, the Mercedes is stronger and faster. What about the handling? Glad you asked.

The Mercedes C 63 employs all-wheel drive for its drivetrain option. AWD is great for tighter, more agile handling and improved traction as all of the wheels get power. The BMW M4 gives you the choice of rear-wheel drive for the base coupe or available rear-biased all-wheel drive (more power goes to the rear tires than the front).

Lastly, let’s look at the Mercedes-AMG® C 63 MPG vs. the BMW M4 MPG:

  • BMW M4 MPG: 16 city / 23 highway
  • Mercedes-AMG® C 63 MPG: 36 city / 38 highway

It’s fair to say the hybrid vehicle setup benefits the Mercedes-AMG® C 63 hp and MPG substantially.

Mercedes C 63 Vs. BMW M4: Interior and Technology

The BMW M4 interior exudes sport and excitement, feeling like you’re behind the wheel of a racing car, ready to burst out of the gate. The available carbon fiber trim and luxurious accents make for comfortable, thrilling drives every time. There’s seating for up to four, though passengers in the back may not feel as comfortable as those in front.

The Mercedes-AMG® C 63 interior adopts a more luxurious feel, resembling the first-class sleeper cabins of an international flight. The C 63 interior adds comforts such as standard heated seats, leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof. Though the racing power of this vehicle isn’t completely shirked, thanks in part to the available performance front seats, so if you want to feel like you’re on the track when driving around Littleton or Denver, we recommend adding them.

The BMW M4 technology shines with a large 14.9infotainment system next to a 12.3digital driver gauge center. Standard BMW M4 tech accoutrement includes Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility paired with a premium Harman Kardon sound system. Wireless charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot are available options. The BMW M4 also comes equipped with BMW ConnectedDrive, which allows you to use your phone to check the status of the vehicle when parked, control charging for electric vehicles, gain access to BMWs voice-activated personal assistant, and more.

Like the BMW M4 tech, the Mercedes-AMG® C 63 tech setup includes a 12.3” digital driver information display and shifts the infotainment to the center console, offering a vertically-oriented 11.9” infotainment system. Other Mercedes-AMG® C 63 tech includes:

  • Voice control
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™
  • A Burmester 3D surround sound system
  • Wireless charging
  • Native navigation (free for one year)
  • And more.

All the above features are standard for the Mercedes-AMG® C 63.

Mercedes C 63 Vs. BMW M4: Safety

As far as BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG® C 63 safety are concerned, despite their immense power, both are very solid vehicles. The BMW M4 received a five-star rating from the Euro New Car Assessment Program, and the Mercedes C 63 clinched a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS. Lane assist is standard on the M4 and optional on the C 63, but the C 63 gets standard parking assist while the M4 only gets parking sensors. Both vehicles feature desirable and luxurious driver assistance features, so you’ll be protected no matter which one you choose.

Mercedes C 63 Vs. BMW M4: Price

The BMW M4 comes in a few trims, with the base-level starting at $81,300 MSRP. The trim with the most powerful engine and luxury features starts at $90,600. The Mercedes-AMG® C 63 only comes in one trim level, the S E Performance, starting at $86,050. For what you get, the Mercedes has a better value of features vs. price.

Mercedes C 63 Vs. BMW M4: Final Thoughts

When youre willing to invest in a powerhouse luxury vehicle, the Mercedes-AMG® C 63 offers the most horsepower, the quickest 0-60 time, and standard comforts at a price in between the entry and top-level trims of the BMW X4. If you want a sportier interior, the BMW X4 is the choice, but with nearly 150 extra horsepower, the C 63 wont disappoint. However, its best to experience all that it has to offer in person, so contact us today to learn more and to schedule a test drive of the Mercedes-AMG® C 63.
