Virgil Abloh was best known as founder of the high end brand “Off-White,” as well as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection. Before his unfortunate death from cancer in 2021, Abloh collaborated with Mercedes Benz chief designer on Project Maybach. The partnership produced two unique Maybach vehicles: a massive, solar powered roadster designed for luxury off-roading, and a reimagined S680. The roadster remains under “show car” status, but the Virgil Abloch Maybch S680 will be available to purchase this April. Celebs have already lined up to buy one of these ultra luxury vehicles, of which only 150 were made. Let’s take a closer look at the Virgil Abloh Maybach and some of its more unique features.

Exterior Design of the 2023 Virgil Abloh Maybach

The exterior of Virgil Abloh’s Maybach S680 appears to be a direct nod to his ties with Louis Vuitton. The vehicle is two-toned, with a glossy obsidian top and a sand-colored bottom, a combo reminiscent of the fashion house’s famous luggage and accessories. The specially-forged rims are also sand-colored, giving the vehicle a cohesive and earthy appearance. The only other deviation from the classic S680 look is the front bumper, which has been de-chromed to a matte black.

Inside, the color scheme remains fairly muted, with cream-colored leather seats, glossy black accents, and polished chrome elements scattered throughout. Interestingly, the cream coloring extends to the trim, which would ordinarily be natural wood in the standard S 680; but the effect is not bad at all.

The black seatbelts are a nice touch, giving a subtle lift to the cabin’s contours. Head cushion casings are a plush leather with the custom Maybach x Abloh logo inscribed on each one, along with which numbered vehicle you are lucky enough to be driving (i.e. 3 of 150).

The infotainment system and instrument cluster have been refreshed with fun, animated graphics, like slow-falling diamonds. The steering wheel is also two-toned in the black and sand color scheme.

But, as everyone knows, the rear is where the Maybach really starts to raise the bar in luxury. The Virgil Abloh version maintains the standards of its predecessors, with built in tray tables (leather in sand color, of course), a champagne fridge and glasses, plush head rests, wireless charging, USB and HDMI ports, specialized champagne flute holders, warm and cold cup holders, personal infotainment screens, and more.

How Much Will the Virgil Abloh Mercedes Benz Maybach Cost?

A lot. According to Supercar Blondie, the projected cost for Abloh’s collaboration vehicle is double what the standard S680 costs. Given that a 2022 Maybach S680 4Matic starts at $229,000, you can venture a guess at just how steep the price tag is going to be for the limited edition Abloh Maybach. With stars like Kim Kardashian plunking down $400,000 for a custom Maybach mini-van, Abloh’s high end sedan will likely start at at least half a million.
