Mercedes EQE 450 4MATIC in black

In keeping with top competitors like Tesla, Mercedes Benz has begun offering over-the-air updates to its customers in lieu of finite trim options. The latest of these updates is the Acceleration Increase, available to owners of the all-electric EQS and EQE models via a one time payment or two subscription options (monthly or annual). Read our article for more information about the Mercedes Acceleration subscription.

What Vehicles Are Eligible for Mercedes Acceleration Subscription?

At the moment, only the EQE and EQS models are eligible for the acceleration increase. This includes the EQE 350 4MATIC sedan and SUV, and the EQS 450 4MATIC sedan and SUV. The cost of each subscription will vary depending on the specific vehicle. Drivers can choose from a monthly fee, a yearly fee, or a one-time payment good for the lifetime of the vehicle.

What Does the Acceleration Increase Subscription Do?

As the name suggests, the Mercedes Acceleration subscription boosts the vehicle’s overall acceleration time (up to a full second less from 0-60 mph). It does this by increasing the vehicle’s overall torque and maximum engine output (up to 80 hp). Drivers can make use of the Acceleration Increase regardless of which Dynamic Select driving program they have chosen.

As you will see in the chart below, both the EQE 350 4MATIC Sedan get a maximum boost of 60 hp with the new subscription. The sedan decreases its acceleration time by 0.9 seconds, while the SUV accelerates a full second faster. The EQS 450 4MATIC sedan and SUV gain an impressive 80 hp and each earns a 0.8 and 0.9 second increase in acceleration time, respectively.

How Do You Buy Mercedes’ Acceleration Subscription?

The Mercedes Acceleration Increase subscription or one-time purchase is available as a “Digital Extra” through the Mercedes me Connect app. Simply visit the app store, add it to your basket, and purchase with your saved payment information. Your electric vehicle’s software will update to include the Acceleration subscription once your payment is processed.

What Other Mercedes Digital Extras Are Available?

In addition to the most recent Acceleration Increase subscription, Mercedes has a few other over the air digital extras available to its customers. Beginner Driver Mode, for example, limits the vehicle’s maximum speed to 75 mph to allow newer drivers to acclimate to the endless torque of an electric vehicle. Valet Service Mode reduces the power output and restricts access to your personal profile data when you give the car to someone else to park. Mercedes me Charge is also available as an over the air upgrade for EQ vehicle owners.
