2023 EQE SUV Price Comparison With EQS SUV

The entry level EQE 350+ is expected to have a MSRP of around $80,000. The higher end EQE 500 4MATIC will retail for about $95,000. The 2023 EQS SUV will start at $104,400 for the 450+ model and top out at $125,950 for the EQS 580 4MATIC.

EQE SUV vs EQS SUV Power and Range

Like the EQS, the EQE will come in three powertrain options: 350+, 350+ 4MATIC, and 500. Both the 350+ and the 350+ 4Matic utilize a single, 90.5 kWh battery that puts out 288 hp and gets around 300 miles in maximum range. The 500 bumps up the power to 402 hp but utilizes two batteries, adding weight and reducing overall range.

By contrast, all EQS models use a single 108.4 kWh battery. The entry level 450+ has a range of about 305 miles and a horsepower of 355. The 450+ 4Matic adds all wheel drive while maintaining the 355 hp and slightly reducing the range to around 285. Finally, the 580 4Matic ups the horsepower to a whopping 536 and keeps the 285 mile range.

EQE vs EQS SUV Size

The EQS SUV is larger than the EQE SUV, with a 126.4” wheelbase compared to 119.3” in the EQE. The EQS is also nearly 8 inches wider than the EQE, but it is only about one inch taller. Cargo space in the EQE maxes out at 59.2 cubic feet, whereas the EQS provides up to 74 cubic feet of room. Ultimately, this extra room may be a deciding factor for individuals looking for a more spacious family vehicle.

Mercedes EQE SUV Interior Features

Even the entry level 2023 EQE SUV 350+ will be decked out with the latest in Mercedes tech and luxury, including the Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, and Mercedes patented safety and driver assistance programs. The vehicle will also feature the MBUX artificial intelligence system, voice controls, biometric identification, and wireless charging.

One important difference between the EQE SUV and the EQS SUV is the inclusion of the Surround View System with “transparent hood” technology. This technology comes standard in the EQS, but it is an add on for the EQE. It utilizes the vehicle’s 360 degree cameras to map out terrain ahead of time, allowing drivers to pre-empt hazards like rocks and potholes while off-roading.

Is the Price of the EQS SUV Worth It?

Unlike the gas powered GLE and GLS, the electric EQE and EQS SUVs have significant differences in size, performance, and amenities. The EQS is larger, more powerful, and has additional technological and luxury features that come standard. The entry-level EQS 450+ may also be more appealing to buyers with range anxiety, since it gets the highest range between the two lines (though not by much, since the EQE 350+ has a 300 mile range).

That being said, the price differences are significant: it will cost you around $24,000 more for the entry level EQS SUV 450+. Ultimately, the choice will likely come down to size. The EQS SUV has more than a little extra room, which may be the deciding factor for many drivers. Otherwise, for $24,000, we have a feeling you could upgrade your EQE SUV 350+ with even more bells and whistles than the EQS SUV 450+.
