The latest iteration of the Mercedes GLE SUV was announced earlier this year. The 2024 Mercedes Benz GLE will see changes to both the exterior and interior, with a focus on tech upgrades and expanded off road capabilities. In keeping with its pledge to offer electrified versions of all vehicles by 2030, the brand will also introduce a plug-in hybrid model to the GLE class: the 450e 4MATIC. All models will have mild hybrid abilities via a 48 volt battery and integrated starter generator.
Four 2024 GLE Models to Choose From
Mercedes will offer the 2024 GLE in four models: 350 4MATIC, 450 4MATIC, 580 4MATIC, and 450e 4MATIC. Previous models included a rear wheel drive version of the 350, but 2024 models will not have this option.
New Features of the 2024 GLE
Many of the changes to the new 2024 Mercedes GLE are geared towards an enhanced off roading experience. The Offroading Engineering Package is available for the 580 4MATIC and includes an underride guard and the brand’s signature AIRMATIC suspension. The combination gives the vehicle an additional 1.2” of ground clearance.
The latest version of the Mercedes MBUX software also has an Off-Road option. When combined with the vehicle’s 360 degree camera and Mercedes Parking Package, drivers can make use of the “transparent hood” feature. This incredible technology maps the terrain under the vehicle and creates a visual representation on the central display. Drivers can use the display to preempt rocks, potholes, and other potentially dangerous terrain.
Another new feature of the 2024 GLE is the Trailer Route Planner, available through the navigation system. Drivers can define the dimensions and weight of an attached trailer through a menu in the MBUX; the Route Planner will then adapt your route to accommodate the trailer, taking into account height, width, and weight restrictions.
Exterior Changes to Mercedes GLE 2024
Mercedes Benz has made several subtle but impactful changes to the exterior of the GLE. There is a new, modern-looking front bumper and a pair of louvers with chrome accents that jazzes up the radiator grille. Rear lights have been upgraded, and drivers can upgrade to ambient lighting with animated projection of the Mercedes Benz pattern.
The 2024 GLE SUV will offer two new paint options to choose from: Twilight Blue Metallic and MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey. Buyers can also select from two additional wheel sizes (19” or 20”).
Interior Changes to All New Mercedes GLE SUV
The interior of the 2024 GLE will incorporate features previously found only in the Maybach GLS class. This includes chrome finished air vents and swank trim options, such as the Piano Black Flowing Lines trim.
Two USB ports have been added to the rear armrest, and the Burmester sound system has been upgraded to include 13 speakers, a 9-channel DSP amplifier, and a combined system output of 590 watts.
More HP in the 2024 GLE SUV
The incorporation of a 48 volt battery and integrated starter generator in the 2024 GLE lineup means slightly enhanced horsepower. This is most appreciable in the 580 4MATIC, which will see an increase from 483 hp to 510 hp. Torque is also enhanced and acceleration are also increased slightly in all the models.
